| The Bridge over the River Kwae, was made famous in film. During World War II, Japan made bold moves across Asia. They intended on making it all the way to India while the rest of the world's powers were occupied in Europe. Anyone who has ever played RISK knows that Asia is impossible to hold, but the Japanese went big. Thailand cooperated, in exchange for not being taken over, and allowed the Japanese to build their railroad bridge. The Japanese used POWs from Australia, UK, USA and from a variety of other countries as slave labor in sickening conditions to build the bridge. It was essential for transporting supplies to their troops. The allies bombed the bejesus out of it, so the Japanese put POWs out on the bridge so the allies would have to kill their own. They did. You gotta spend money to make money, just like you gotta kill people to save people. It's an ironic world we live in. |

| Jackie and I motorbiked our way up to see this safari thing where you get to hug giraffes. Real deal. We both wrapped our arms around a whole lot of g-neck. |
